A few months ago, I was invited to join a monthly cocktail club. I readily accepted. In January of 2021, it was my turn to select a cocktail. I willingly conducted a modest level of research into different cocktails. What I settled on was a slight variation of the traditional My Old Pal. At the recommendation of a friend, I leaned a bit heavy on the rye to level out the bitterness of the Campari.
Cocktail Ingredients
- 1.3 ounces rye whiskey
- 1 ounce Campari
- 1 ounce dry vermouth
- A twist of lemon
The Recipe for a My Old Pal
- Add the rye whiskey, Campari and dry vermouth into a mixing glass with ice and stir until well-chilled.
- Strain into a chilled martini glass.
- Garnish with a lemon twist.
So, go on, give it a try. Let me know what you think of the cocktail and how you tweak it to your tastes. (And, I was out of lemons when I took the photo of my My Old Pal for this post.)
