I had the opportunity – and responsibility – to put together another round of the weekly pub quiz at the Queen’s Head Pub, in Horspath. This time I was experienced enough in the practice to start assembling the questions before the day of the quiz – I actually started on Monday, with the quiz on Thursday.
So, how did I do? Well, I received all sorts of comments like ‘great quiz’, ‘very good quiz’, ‘that was brilliant’. Take a look for yourself and see what you think.
And drop me a comment to let me know what you thought of the quiz.
Do you like the links in your blog/site to take you away from the page, instead of just opening a new tab or window?
I do in fact like when the link opens in a new window. I like it for two reasons: (1) web accessibility standards require it and (2) I know how to use the back button.
Expanding on point (1), text readers get very confused by links that open in new windows. They rely on being able to go back pages, but if the link opens a new window, there is no way back.
And since I started used tabbed browsers (which even IE does not), I have become used to right-clicking on links that I want to open in another tab or window. I think the benefit of making the site more accessible to all is worth the extra right-click.
As for point (2), it really is pretty easy to jump back 5, 10 or more pages just using the back button. I find that a bit easier rather than having too many browser windows or tabs open.
IE has tabs. The old versions didn’t, but the current does.
You’re right about the tabs. My previous bracketed statement about IE not having tabs was a typo. I must learn to proof read more closely!
