I really enjoy flying my DJI Mini 3 Pro in and around Chester County, Pennsylvania. The Mini 3 Pro is a very capable drone that enables me to fly, shoot video, and take pictures – all as a recreational hobbyist. I have the DJI Mini 3 Fly More Combo, which comes with a carrying case and extra batteries.
With most state and county parks prohibiting the flying of drones, I thought it would be helpful to other drone enthusiasts to know where to fly their drones in Chester County, Pa. Over time, I will add more locations as I find and enjoy them.
Kerr Park, Downingtown, Pa
DIRECTIONS: Kerr Park, Park Lane, Downingtown, PA 19335
This is a huge local park located right in the middle of Downingtown, Pa. The west edge of the park is bordered by the East Branch Brandywine Creek. The park includes plenty of open space, old trees, and more. There is a Frisbee golf course, basketball courts, a skate park, volleyball courts, children’s play area, a gazebo, walking/biking paths, and probably even more. There are also foot bridges and road bridges over the creek too.
Upland Farm Park, Upper Uwchlan Township, Pa
DIRECTIONS: Upland Farm Park, 301 Pottstown Pike, Chester Springs, PA 19425
With a huge, and wonderfully refurbished red barn, Upland Farm Park is a great place to fly. Plenty of open space, a great big old tree in front of the barn, and a few walking trails make for a great place to fly.
Harmony Hill Nature Area, Downingtown, Pa
DIRECTIONS: East Branch Brandywine Trailhead, West Bradford Township, PA 19335
The East Branch Brandywine Creek flows south from Downingtown, Pa where it runs along and through the Harmony Hill Nature Area. The nature area has a great walking and biking path called (naturally) the East Branch Brandywine Trail. The trail is a about 2 or 2.5 miles long and offers easy walking with a few gentle ups and downs.
While I want to do more drone flying, the trail offers a great way to film the Gibson-Harmony Hill Covered Bridge.
There are a few places along the trail to fly out over and film or photograph the beauty of East Branch Brandywine Creek.
