From time to time, I need a WordPress plugin to edit this setting, clean up this bit of the database, or effect some other edit or change. While I often rely on wp-cli to handle the majority of tasks, there are times when a plugin is absolutely the best choice (read simplest, fastest, and easiest). What follows is a way for me to keep an organized list of which plugins I prefer for a variety of tasks. I expect that I will add to this list over time.
Access WordPress Options via the WordPress Dashboard

Clean Up Revisions
The WP Sweep plugin was recommended to me by Joe Casabona. It did the business quickly, easily and painlessly.
Export Databases, Migrate a Site, Find/Replace in the Database
For a whole host of database-related tasks, there is no better tool than WP Migrate Pro. It’s on the pricier side, but it is absolutely worth every penny. So powerful. So reliable.
Change table_prefix in wp-config and the WordPress database
Here’s a plugin that was recommended to me for changing the table_prefix
in both the wp-config.php
file and in the WordPress database: Brozzme DB Prefix & Tools Addons.
Access the Database via the WordPress Dashboard
The folks who make the WP Migrate Pro plugin (mentioned above), recently launched a new tool called SQL Buddy, which is a WordPress plugin that makes it easy to manage your database table contents right from your WordPress dashboard. I learned about this plugin in the TinyPress newsletter, which is published by Daniel Schutzsmith.
Please note that I have never used SQL Buddy, but I am adding it here in case I need it in the future.
